To All Staff:
I am writing you this letter to first say that I hope that you and your family are safe and healthy! Secondly, I want to tell you about what is happening with the program’s closure.
I have received directives from the Office of Head Start and the Oregon Early Learning Division that staff will continue to be paid what they where earning before the closure and that they will continue to have their benefits paid until the program opens up again.
We know that we will not be opening up again until the public schools do. I am enclosing a copy of that directive for you to review.
I know that this is not an easy time. We will just have to ride it through and see where it goes from here. Your OSC will be contacting some of you giving you assignments to work on. The Office of Head Start wants us to stay in touch with families and to get educational information out to the families. We have decided to use the Ready Rosie online learning tool to link families and children to a learning website for their young children. You will need to do the task your OSC assigns you.
This might also be a good time for custodial staff to do some good cleaning of the buildings and the buses. The management team and I have things that we are working on at home. At this point in time, Becka, Becky, and I are working on five grants that will soon be submitted to the Oregon Early Learning Division. Once those are completed, we will start working on the Federal Grant that is due the end of May.
I hope to see all of you soon! I will get back in touch with you if anything changes. Just remember that if the school closure date is extended out so will ours. I have no idea what the remainder of the year will look like. I will get in touch with you as soon as I know anything different from what I have included in this letter.
As far as unemployment, you should only be filing for this for spring break. Remember you are being paid for the remainder of you time off. You can’t claim unemployment for anytime you are being paid for.
Thinking of You!
